TARPUM BAY
ELEUTHERA
When Captain William Sayles with a group of Puritans, known as the Eleuthera Adventurers in search of religious freedom arrived on the shores of Eleuthera in 1648, they were met with timeless beauty, crystalline turquoise waters, an abundance of wildlife and stunning sunsets. Eleuthera, known as the Island of Freedom, is speckled with charming settlements from north to south. A longtime picturesque favorite, Tarpum Bay, originally named Glenelg but later changed due to the large number of Tarpon fish found on the beach, is located between Savannah Sound and Rock Sound. Tarpum Bay is known for it’s hard working fisherman providing residents and businesses with a variety of local seafood on most days. A stroll along the bay will bring you to the iconic town docks where you can purchase the fresh catch. Tarpum Bay’s unique charm transports visitors to a time and place where community and family oriented values are unmatched. You instantly feel at home.
