HISTORY
Hilton's Haven was the grand vision of Ms. Mary Hilton. Born in 1916 in Savannah Sound, Eleuthera. Aunt Mary (as she was affectionately known as) was a treasured community leader who served as a local nurse for over 30 years. Aunt Mary was a charitable and hospitable person who was often seen collecting food and clothing distributing them to the hungry and needy, serving her community whilst leading by example. Her love for people and service were the inspiration which transpired into Hilton's Haven. Upon retirement from serving as a community nurse Ms. Hilton began to invest in local real estate and turned old family homes into rental units, which then developed into Hilton's Haven. Hilton's Haven was established in 1964, and the following year, in 1965, she added the 10-unit hotel. Aunt Mary was a pioneer in Tarpum Bay for Bahamaian-owned tourist accommodations. She loved people and her ability to connect was evident in the large number of international and local guests who returned to Hilton's Haven every year in which most became good family friends of Aunt Mary's. She loved her island and her community and she never shied away from warmly welcoming those who visited. In 1964 she was honored by Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip with the Certificate and Badge of Honor for excellent service to the island of Eleuthera.
Today Hilton's Haven Historic Boutique Hotel stands as a testament of Aunt Mary's hospitality and warmth. Following its renovation by family members in 2020 to its former glory, short term and long term guests are now again able to enjoy and experience quiet island charm in a beautiful, modern setting.

A few of the many activities to do when exploring the settlement include getting fresh fish from community fishermen on the infamous Tarpum Bay dock, kayaking the glass-like Caribbean Sea, and enjoying the memorizing sunsets from the Bayfront while sipping on a ice cold refreshment.
